Great price-rises and housing shortages for the less-well-off inhabitants are yet a real problem. What will happen if many unfortunate people become homeless?
In our European metropoles, which count millions of inhabitants there are already thousands of families living on the streets under the force of circumstances. A further devolopment of this situation needs a creative solution.
Cities like Brussels, Berlin and Barcelona have the advantage of possessing a vast network of underground transport.
These tube lines form an extent system of tunnels under the surface of the whole city.
Not only do these enormous 'rabbit-holes' serve as a quick and efficient means of transport, thousands of persons could also use them as their home.
An underground home has many advantages. You are sheltered, the busy traffic provides a nice temperature and there are many facilities like newspaper stands, bars, shops, sanitary fittings and of course tube lines that bring you everywhere. You don't have to pay rent yet, only the entrance tickets, which is still a lot cheaper than renting a house, provided that you don't come above ground too often.
